IS VIRTUAL PRIMARY CARE RIGHT FOR YOU?
When you’re looking for a new primary care provider (PCP) there are many factors to think about, but one thing you may not have considered is whether a virtual provider may be right for you. Both virtual and in-person PCPs offer the same level of quality care, but each option offers some unique benefits and conveniences. See how they compare:
VIRTUAL PRIMARY CARE
Dedicated support from your remote provider and care team, wherever you are.
- Your provider will conduct your visits virtually and can help you get devices you may need to monitor your health
- For vaccines and tests, your care team will refer you to a convenient pharmacy, lab, or clinic, and connect back with you on results
- You can receive ongoing support from your provider and care team by text, phone, or video call
- Your care team may include some specialists, including integrated mental health support, and can help coordinate in-person specialist appointments
IN-PERSON PRIMARY CARE
A hands-on, traditional method of care with your provider in a clinical setting.
- Your provider will conduct your visits in person, along with any necessary tests
- Your provider’s office may offer most vaccines on site, and may send you to a lab for certain tests and screenings
- You can contact your provider through phone calls or an online portal
- Your PCP may refer you to specialists for additional care, including mental health support

If you need care that can only be done in person, such as blood work and lab testing, your care coordinator will help guide you to a pharmacy, lab, or specialist that is convenient for you.
